Russia destroys three Ukrainian missile launchers, including HIMARS
(MENAFN) Russian forces have reportedly destroyed three Ukrainian missile launchers, including a US-supplied HIMARS, according to the Defense Ministry, which released video footage of the strike.
In a statement on Sunday, the ministry said that an Iskander-M short-range ballistic missile, aided by reconnaissance drones, hit two Ukrainian Neptune coastal missile systems and a HIMARS launcher in the Dnepropetrovsk region.
High-altitude footage showed the vehicles in an open field before one Iskander missile — capable of reaching 500 km and carrying a warhead of up to 700 kg — struck its target, generating a large explosion, visible shockwaves, and a fireball.
The HIMARS system, provided to Ukraine by the United States since June 2022, can fire guided rockets up to 80 km, with some variants capable of reaching 150 km. The launcher has played a crucial role in Ukraine’s arsenal, including in strikes against Russian positions and, on several occasions, civilian areas.
Ukraine’s locally-developed Neptune missile, designed for maritime targets, has a range of up to 280 km.
Russia has repeatedly criticized Western arms transfers to Ukraine, arguing that such shipments prolong the conflict without altering its ultimate outcome.
