BRICS–Europe Symposium in Sochi Focuses on Regional Cooperation

(MENAFN) The second BRICS–Europe symposium commenced this week at the Black Sea resort of Sochi. The gathering is devoted to outlining measures aimed at enhancing collaboration between the nations within the group and the broader region.

Lindiwe Zulu, a senior official from South Africa’s ruling African National Congress (ANC) party, noted that her country had participated in the initiative during its inaugural edition and described the second meeting as “an important step in advancing this movement.”

Zulu emphasized that the forum holds special relevance for Africa, stressing that unity must be accompanied by tangible action.

She stated, “Our commitment is to ensure that this movement grows from strength for peace, security and the prosperity of the African people.”

The symposium’s honorary guest is Pierre de Gaulle, grandson of the late French President Charles de Gaulle.

Germany’s Steffen Kotre, a Bundestag member from the Alternative for Germany (AfD) party, also attended, sparking political debate within his home country.

Alexei Gromyko, director of the Institute of Europe at the Russian Academy of Sciences, addressed the attendees, asserting that the swift rise of BRICS demonstrates “a shift in the center of gravity of global politics and economics toward Eurasia.”
