Israeli Military Forces Storm Syria’s Daraa
(MENAFN) Israeli military personnel penetrated Syrian territory on Saturday, pushing forward into agricultural zones within Daraa province's southwestern region, according to local media accounts.
Forces deployed a patrol that breached farmland boundaries near Maariya village, discharging weapons and triggering alarm among local inhabitants, Moaffaq Mahmoud, chairman of the Abidin–Maariya municipal council, confirmed to a state-operated media outlet.
Authorities reported zero casualties or property destruction from the incident.
Mahmoud characterized the Israeli incursion as part of an escalating pattern, noting the zone has experienced comparable "provocations" throughout recent weeks.
He emphasized that area inhabitants "remain aware and resilient" while stressing that municipal officials and oversight committees maintain active coordination to counter prospective Israeli boundary violations.
Neither Israeli military representatives nor Syrian governmental officials provided immediate responses regarding the incident.
Israeli armed forces have systematically penetrated Syrian borders, executing aerial bombardments that have resulted in civilian fatalities and obliterated military installations, transport assets, weaponry, and munitions stockpiles controlled by Syrian defense forces.
Official statistics indicate Israeli military operations have launched beyond 1,000 aerial strikes against Syria alongside more than 400 ground incursions into southern territories since December 2024.
Following the collapse of the Bashar al-Assad administration in late 2024, Israel broadened its territorial control over the Syrian Golan Heights through occupation of the demilitarized separation zone—an action contravening the 1974 Disengagement Agreement established with Syria.
