Trump cut ties with MAGA ally, for claims of going “far left”
(MENAFN) US President Donald Trump has publicly withdrawn his support for Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene, accusing the longtime MAGA ally of betraying the Republican Party and moving “far left.”
In a series of posts on Truth Social, Trump called Greene “a disgrace to our GREAT REPUBLICAN PARTY!” and criticized her for continual complaints despite what he described as his record achievements for the country. He indicated that the falling out began after sending Greene a poll showing she had only a 12% approval rating in Georgia and advising her not to pursue a run for senator or governor, after which he claimed she “has gone Far Left.”
Greene responded on X, suggesting that Trump withdrew his support because she had pushed the Justice Department to release all remaining files related to convicted child sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein, who died in jail in 2019. “I never thought that fighting to release the Epstein files, defending women who were victims of rape, and fighting to expose the web of rich powerful elites would have caused this, but here we are,” she wrote.
She further accused Trump of using the move to “make an example to scare all the other Republicans before next week’s vote to release the Epstein files.” A petition demanding a vote on a bill requiring the DOJ to release the records gathered sufficient signatures this week, with the vote scheduled for next week.
