Trump, Marjorie Taylor Greene clash in public feud

(MENAFN) Tensions between President Donald Trump and Republican Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene have escalated into a highly public dispute, highlighting a rupture between Trump and one of his most steadfast allies.

On Friday, Trump called Greene "wacky" in social media posts and suggested she should be unseated in next year’s elections, later intensifying his criticism on Saturday by calling her a "traitor," according to reports.

Greene, in turn, has recently questioned whether Trump remains committed to "America First" and criticized his handling of the Jeffrey Epstein files, which the House is set to consider for public release.

"All I see 'Wacky' Marjorie do is COMPLAIN, COMPLAIN, COMPLAIN!" Trump posted on Friday night, claiming her turn against him followed his suggestion that she should not run for governor or senator in Georgia. "She has told many people that she is upset that I don't return her phone calls anymore," he added, saying: "I can't take a ranting Lunatic's call every day."

Trump also pledged to support any Republican opponent who challenges Greene in next year’s midterms. "Marjorie 'Traitor' Green [sic] is a disgrace to our GREAT REPUBLICAN PARTY!" he wrote on Saturday from Florida.

Greene has criticized Trump’s domestic and foreign policies, particularly his handling of the Epstein files. She is one of just four House Republicans who joined Democrats in signing a discharge petition calling for the release of the files last week.

"He's coming after me hard to make an example to scare all the other Republicans before next weeks vote to release the Epstein files," Greene wrote on X, adding: "It's astonishing really how hard he's fighting to stop the Epstein files from coming out that he actually goes to this level."

She later posted that Trump had made her a target for threats "fueled and egged on by the most powerful man in the world," writing: "As a Republican, who overwhelmingly votes for President Trump's bills and agenda, his aggression against me... is completely shocking to everyone." She emphasized her priorities: "I don't worship or serve Donald Trump," and "I worship God, Jesus is my savior, and I serve my district GA14 and the American people."

Analysts said it is clear Trump does not want the Epstein files released and is attempting to pressure Greene, though they noted the feud is unlikely to significantly affect his popularity among supporters. Observers also believe the files will eventually be made public, as many voters support holding power to account, according to reports.
