(MENAFN) US President Donald Trump has severed ties with Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene, accusing the longtime MAGA ally of betraying the Republican Party and moving “far left.”

In a Truth Social post Saturday, Trump announced he was withdrawing his support and endorsement for the GOP lawmaker, writing, “Marjorie ‘Traitor’ Green [sic] is a disgrace to our GREAT REPUBLICAN PARTY!” In another post, he criticized her recent actions, saying, “Over the past few weeks, despite my creating Record Achievements for our Country… all I see ‘Wacky’ Marjorie do is COMPLAIN, COMPLAIN, COMPLAIN!”

Trump said the dispute began after he shared a poll showing Greene had a 12% approval rating in Georgia and advised her against running for Senate or governor, adding that she has since gone “Far Left.”

Greene, responding on X, suggested that Trump withdrew his support because she had pushed the Justice Department to release remaining files on convicted child sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein, who allegedly died in jail in 2019. She wrote, “I never thought that fighting to release the Epstein files, defending women who were victims of rape, and fighting to expose the web of rich powerful elites would have caused this, but here we are.”

She further accused Trump of cutting ties to “make an example to scare all the other Republicans before next week’s vote to release the Epstein files.” A petition forcing a vote on a bill requiring the DOJ to release the files secured enough signatures on Wednesday, with the vote scheduled for next week.

Earlier this week, roughly 20,000 documents from Epstein’s estate were released by the US House Oversight Committee. House Democrats published an email in which Epstein allegedly claimed that Trump “knew about the girls.” Shortly afterward, Trump ordered an investigation into Epstein’s connections to high-profile Democrats, including Bill Clinton, dismissing his opponents’ criticisms as the “Epstein Hoax.”
