World Wide Technology (WWT), a global provider of technology solutions, has joined forces with Ideas in Action to launch Red MenTe:Impulso a la Empleabilidad, a professional development initiative designed to equip women throughout Costa Rica with the skills and tools necessary to excel in high-demand STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) fields. The program benefited 30 participants from Red MenTe, Ideas en Acción's National Network of Women in Technology.

After 16 weeks of continuous access to the courses available at WWT's Advanced Technology Center (ATC), participants strengthened their skills in three main areas: cybersecurity, networking and infrastructure, and data and artificial intelligence.

“We are pleased to see the positive response from students upon obtaining their full certification,” said Elkin Suárez Durall, General Manager of WWT Costa Rica.“WWT is committed to expanding access to education and employment in the technology sector. In addition, we supported the program with a session on preparing for future interviews. The students received tools to improve their resumes, optimize their LinkedIn profiles, and conducted mock interviews guided by our Talent Acquisition team.”

“From the moment I explored WWT's platform (ATC), I knew it wasn't just another learning experience,” said student Sara Ballestero.“It's not just about completing courses, but about immersing yourself in a space that challenges your mind, awakens your curiosity, and elevates the way you approach professional challenges. In just two weeks, I strengthened my foundation in cyber security and, most importantly, discovered new perspectives on how to apply what I learned in real-world situations.

The content is practical and up-to-date. It not only imparts knowledge, but also encourages me to think strategically, make purposeful decisions, and view technology as an ally in creating solutions. What excites me most about this process is that it challenges me to grow beyond the technical realm: it inspires me to strengthen my creativity, critical thinking, and professional confidence, and each module becomes a tool for generating value in every space I enter,” added Ballestero.

Empowering more women in STEM is essential for Costa Rica to remain a sustainable, reliable, and competitive partner on the global stage.

“Programs like this strengthen our national capabilities, open up new opportunities for women, and help respond to the demands of a global market that values innovation and diversity as key drivers of development,” added Laura López, General Manager of the Costa Rican Foreign Trade Promoter (PROCOMER).

This initiative reflects WWT's passion for training future leaders. The company empowers the next generation by investing in STEM education, internships, and work-based learning opportunities around the world. Through these efforts, WWT seeks to cultivate and retain individuals capable of leading in the future.

“I know this is just the beginning of a journey in which I want to continue learning, creating, and sharing,” Ballestero concluded.“I am convinced that WWT's platform not only shapes my knowledge, but also drives me to build my best professional self, with purpose and impact.”

Ideas in Action shares the same sentiment.“Regardless of their background, women across the country will now have access to knowledge and opportunities that can transform their lives,” said Noelia Murillo, Executive Director of the organization.“This collaboration allows us to open new doors in the technology sector.”

Mujeres en Acción marks a significant step in WWT Costa Rica's community outreach efforts and aligns with its mission to promote innovation.
