World Military Parachuting Championship Opens In Doha


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) DOHA, Nov 15 (KUNA) -- Under patronage and in presence of Qatari Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Defense Affairs Sheikh Saud bin Abdulrahman Al Thani the 47th World Military Parachuting Championship (CISM 2025) opened at Umm Al-Shokhot Airfield in Doha on Saturday.
Also attending the opening ceremony were President of Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC) Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani, Chief of Staff of the Qarari Armed Forces Air Marshal Staff Jasem bin Mohammad bin Ahmad Al Mannai and President of the International Military Sports Council (CISM) Col. Nilton Gomes Rolim Filho.
The championship continues until November 23 with 320 military skydivers from 30 countries participating.
On the sidelines of the event, Sheikh Saud bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani and Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al-Thani inaugurated the Air Sports Museum which adds to Qatar's successes in organizing major international sports events.
Meanwhile, Sheikh Saud bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani received a Guinness World Records certificate in recognition of Qatar's achievements in hosting the largest military parachute air display.
Guinness World Records representative Emma Brain handed him the certificate after the opening of the parachuting championship. (end)
