LG Pays Tributes To Victims, Orders Probe Into Blast

Srinagar- Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Saturday ordered a probe into the Nowgam Police Station blast that killed nine people and injured over 30, and visited hospitals to meet the injured.
The Lieutenant Governor visited SMHS and Ujala Cygnus hospitals in Srinagar, where he moved from ward to ward, interacting with the victims and enquiring about their recovery. He directed doctors to ensure the best possible medical care and assured the injured and their families of full government support.
Doctors briefed the LG on the condition of the victims and the treatment being provided. Later, the LG visited the Police Control Room (PCR) headquarters, where he laid a wreath and offered floral tributes to the police personnel, revenue officials, and a civilian who lost their lives in the blast.

The nation will forever remain indebted to their selfless service and supreme sacrifice in the line of duty. Interacted with the bereaved families and expressed my deep condolences. The nation stands shoulder to shoulder with them in this difficult hour.”
The LG arrived in Srinagar from Jammu following the incident, which claimed nine lives - including State Investigation Agency (SIA) Inspector Israr Ahmad Shah, Crime Branch photographers Javaid Mansoor Rather and Arshid Ahmad Shah, Selection Grade Constable Aijaz Afzal Mir, Constables Mohammad Amin Mir and Showkat Ahmad Bhat from the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL), Naib Tehsildar Muzaffar Ahmad Khan, local chowkidar Suhail Ahmad Rather, and civilian tailor Mohammad Shafi Parray.
Officials said the explosion occurred when a specialised team was handling and sampling a large cache of ammonium nitrate-based explosives seized from a terror module in Faridabad. The material, stored in the Nowgam Police Station yard, is believed to have detonated accidentally during inspection.
