Israeli Forces Escalate Operations in Syria’s Quneitra
(MENAFN) The Israeli military carried out yet another operation in Syria’s Quneitra countryside following three raids on Tuesday, infringing on the nation’s sovereignty.
According to a state-run broadcaster, Israeli troops entered the village of Rasm al-Qita and established a military checkpoint, restricting residents’ movement.
A Syrian news outlet also noted that another checkpoint was constructed by Israeli forces on the road connecting Abu Ghara village to Suwaisa town.
Neither the Israeli army nor Syrian authorities immediately responded to these reports.
On Tuesday, Israeli forces had already conducted three incursions into the area, installing a checkpoint between the villages of Umm Batinah and Jaba and searching locals who were traveling through the region.
Incursions by Israel in Quneitra have recently intensified, with residents reporting that Tel Aviv’s forces have encroached upon their farmland, destroyed hundreds of acres of forests, detained civilians, and set up military checkpoints.
The Israeli military has repeatedly penetrated Syrian territory, carrying out airstrikes that resulted in civilian casualties and the destruction of military positions, vehicles, weapons, and ammunition belonging to the Syrian army.
Syrian President Ahmad al-Sharaa previously stated that the Israeli army has executed more than 1,000 airstrikes and over 400 ground incursions since the removal of the Assad regime last December.
