Budgam- Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate Aga Muntazir Mehdi on Thursday said he is contesting the upcoming Budgam bypolls to“undo the past wrongs and blunders” committed against the people of Jammu and Kashmir over the last seven decades.
Addressing supporters, Mehdi accused the National Conference (NC) of repeatedly failing to deliver on its promises.“The NC has disappointed the people of Jammu and Kashmir for over 70 years,” he said.“I have entered politics to undo the wrongs done to Budgam. My manifesto is entirely Budgam-specific.”
Focus on Development and EmploymentMehdi outlined his priorities, pledging to create job opportunities and improve health and educational infrastructure in the constituency.“If elected, I will ensure better healthcare and education facilities and work for youth employment,” he said.“Unlike leaders who disappear after elections, I will remain among my people.”
ADVERTISEMENT Criticism of NC LeadershipTaking a swipe at the NC leadership, the PDP candidate said the party has always been“power-centric”.“The NC has always chased power, not people's welfare,” he remarked.“Even Omar Abdullah once served as a minister in the BJP-led government at the Centre.”
Stand on Electric MetersReiterating the PDP's opposition to electricity meters, Mehdi said,“Our party has always opposed the installation of electric meters and will continue to do so in the future.”
