Bahrain, Qatar Launch First Passenger Maritime Service

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) MANAMA, Nov 6 (KUNA) -- The first passenger ferry between Bahrain and Qatar was launched Thursday, departing from the Sa'ada Sea Front in Bahrain's Muharraq Island and heading to Qatar's Al Ruwais Port.
Bahraini Minister of Transportation and Telecommunications Sheikh Abdullah bin Ahmed said the strategic project opens new horizons for expanding maritime passenger transport between Bahrain and other GCC countries.
He noted that the new sea route represents a qualitative investment in marine tourism and an important boost to the national economy, facilitating travel for citizens, residents, and visitors between the two countries while promoting tourism, culture, and social ties.
The minister added that Bahrain is developing an integrated passenger maritime transport network linking the Kingdom with its regional neighbors, in line with the highest safety and sustainability standards and Bahrain's Economic Vision 2030 principles of sustainability, competitiveness, and fairness.
