Turkish Airlines Secures Engine Deal with GE Aerospace
(MENAFN) Türkiye's national airline, Turkish Airlines, announced on Thursday that it had finalized an agreement with GE Aerospace to purchase engines and engine components as part of a Boeing aircraft acquisition initially revealed in September.
"In line with the growth objectives set out in our Strategic Plan, which aims to generate significant value for all stakeholders, our Board of Directors had decided to purchase a total of 75 aircraft from Boeing, consisting of 50 firm and 25 option orders for B787-9 and B787-10 models with deliveries scheduled between 2029 and 2034," Turkish Airlines stated in a release posted on Türkiye’s Public Disclosure Platform (KAP).
The airline further explained that following a competitive tender for the supply of engines, backup engines, and engine maintenance solutions for these aircraft, discussions were successfully concluded and an agreement was secured with GE Aerospace.
Earlier in September, Turkish Airlines revealed plans to acquire a total of 225 Boeing jets, including 75 orders for the B787-9 and B787-10 models, alongside 150 orders for the 737-8 and 737-10 MAX variants.
The carrier also noted that it had been negotiating with both Rolls-Royce and GE Aerospace to obtain engines, spare units, and maintenance services for the Boeing aircraft it has on order.
