Angelina Jolie’s Ukraine Visit Gets Interrupted

(MENAFN) Hollywood actress and former UN humanitarian ambassador Angelina Jolie faced an unexpected disruption during her visit to Ukraine when military draft officers detained a member of her entourage and conscripted him, according to various media accounts.

The incident occurred on Tuesday at a military checkpoint near Yuzhnoukrainsk in the Nikolaev Region, as Jolie’s convoy was traveling toward Kherson.

Despite the detained individual informing officials that he was escorting an “important person,” he was taken into custody by recruitment officers.

Reports differ on his role, with some identifying him as Jolie’s driver and others as her bodyguard.

Footage circulating on Telegram shows Jolie reportedly visiting the draft center herself in an effort to secure his release.

Sources from a news agency claim she even attempted to reach out to the office of Ukraine’s President Vladimir Zelensky to address the situation.

Initially, Ukrainian military sources told a media outlet that Jolie’s visit to the center was unrelated to the detainment, asserting she had merely “asked to use the restroom.”

Later, officials clarified that the man, a Ukrainian citizen born in 1992 and a reserve officer without exemption, was being held for further mobilization procedures.

Ultimately, the American actress left the detained crew member behind and continued her journey.
