(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) DOHA, Nov 4 (KUNA) -- Minister of Social Affairs, Family, and Childhood Affairs Dr. Amthal Al-Huwailah affirmed Tuesday that investing in women is not only a commitment to equality but a genuine investment in creating sustainable solutions for entire societies.
Dr. Al-Huwailah was speaking at the opening of the high-level side event SheBuilds: Women Innovating Social Solutions for an Inclusive Future, organized by Kuwait's Ministry of Social Affairs on the sidelines of the Second World Summit for Social Development in Doha.
She emphasized that women-led social innovation is inherently inclusive, grounded in a deep understanding of marginalized groups' needs and dedicated to removing barriers to participation in development.
Women, she said, are redefining the meaning of development and justice from a human-centered perspective.
Dr. Al-Huwailah added that the workshop will highlight real-life stories of Kuwaiti women who have addressed social challenges with creativity and constructive vision.
She expressed hope that its outcomes will strengthen regional and international cooperation to build an inclusive future through women's participation in policymaking, economic and knowledge empowerment, and the creation of leadership networks.
GCC Secretary-General Jasem Al-Budaiwi said Gulf states have achieved significant progress in women's empowerment, with increasing female participation in labor markets boosting productivity and economic diversification.
UNESCO Regional Director Salah Khaled noted that women in Kuwait currently represent 60 percent of the public workforce and hold 28 percent of leadership positions nationwide. (pickup previous)
