Russia, China Deepen Ties Amid Global Uncertainty
(MENAFN) Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin stated on Monday that collaboration between Moscow and Beijing is intensifying, even in the midst of instability in global politics and the international economy.
Mishustin’s comments came during the 30th routine session of the China-Russia heads of government in Hangzhou, China, as noted in a Russian government statement.
The gathering also included Chinese Premier Li Qiang, with whom Mishustin conducted discussions earlier in the day. Li was cited as saying that Beijing is prepared to reinforce its cooperation with Moscow to better safeguard their mutual interests.
During the meeting, Mishustin highlighted the initiation of new large-scale projects by both nations, mentioning ventures such as the development of oil and gas reserves, manufacturing high-tech equipment, and collaboration in energy, peaceful nuclear power, and space and lunar exploration.
He added, "We are implementing joint programs in aviation and automotive manufacturing. We are developing transport corridors. We are working in the extreme conditions of the Arctic."
Mishustin emphasized that the two countries share wide-ranging common interests and comparable perspectives on major issues, noting that the use of the dollar and euro in their trade had fallen to the “level of statistical error,” essentially negligible.
He also expressed hope that tourism between Russia and China would grow, supported by the introduction of a visa-free regime for Russian citizens traveling to China.
