Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin To Meet Xi Jinping In Beijing To Bolster Strategic Partnership
Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin arrived in Beijing on Tuesday to meet Chinese President Xi Jinping, aiming to deepen bilateral cooperation and strengthen their long-term strategic partnership amid rising global tensions.
The Russian state news agency TASS reported that Mishustin and Xi last met in December 2023, where they praised growing economic collaboration and political coordination between Moscow and Beijing.
Their current talks follow the 30th regular meeting of the Russia-China Heads of Government Commission in Hangzhou, which both sides hailed as a“pillar of enduring partnership” over the past three decades.
Upon arrival in Beijing, Mishustin was greeted by Russian Ambassador Igor Morgulov and senior Chinese officials before heading to the Great Hall of the People for formal discussions.
The agenda reportedly includes enhancing trade, boosting energy cooperation, and coordinating responses to global sanctions and supply chain challenges.
Analysts say the meeting reflects both nations' effort to assert a multipolar global order, countering Western influence while advancing mutual geopolitical and economic interests.
The visit underscores Moscow's growing reliance on Beijing as a key ally amid its ongoing confrontation with the West, especially following the conflict in Ukraine.
