Trump says he’s not thinking of giving Ukraine Tomahawk missiles

(MENAFN) US President Donald Trump stated on Sunday that he is not currently considering providing Ukraine with long-range Tomahawk cruise missiles. Asked about the potential transfer while aboard Air Force One, he replied, "No. Not really."

Trump also emphasized that he does not plan to leverage frozen Russian assets in negotiations, clarifying that he is not involved in ongoing talks between Europe and Russia. On what might constitute a “final straw” proving Russia’s unwillingness to end the war with Ukraine, he said, "There's no final straw. Sometimes you have to let it fight out. And they're fighting and they're fighting it out."

Regarding his alleged anti-“narco-terrorism” operations, Trump declined to specify deadlines or plans, including potential strikes on Venezuelan military installations, noting he had not made a decision despite media reports. On possible US military action in Nigeria, following his warning over the alleged "killing of Christians," he did not rule out any options, stating, "I envisage a lot of things."

Trump also commented on the ongoing Supreme Court case concerning his tariff powers, describing it as "one of the most important decisions" in US history. "We would suffer tremendously from a national security standpoint" if tariffs could not be used "freely, openly and in every way," he said. He added, "If we don't have tariffs, we don't have national security.

And the rest of the world would laugh at us because they've used tariffs against us for years and took advantage of us."

The Supreme Court is set to hear arguments on November 5 regarding whether Trump lawfully invoked emergency powers to impose global tariffs. Lower courts, including a federal appeals court ruling in August, found that Trump exceeded his authority under the 1977 International Emergency Economic Powers Act, which permits economic sanctions against “unusual and extraordinary” threats. Several rulings have concluded that Trump overstepped Congress’ authority in implementing extensive import duties on numerous countries.
