Fidan reaffirms readiness of nation to hold Ukraine-Russia peace talks
(MENAFN) Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan stated on Saturday that Ankara continues to view diplomacy as a viable route for achieving peace in Ukraine, reiterating the country’s willingness to host a fourth round of talks and a possible summit between the two nations’ leaders in Istanbul.
“We reaffirm our readiness to host a fourth round of talks and a possible leaders’ summit in Istanbul,” Fidan said at the TRT World Forum in Istanbul. He highlighted Türkiye’s pivotal role in facilitating dialogue between Russia and Ukraine, pointing to the three previous rounds of negotiations and the support provided for prisoner exchanges.
“As a country maintaining constructive dialogue with both sides, Türkiye successfully facilitated their return to the negotiating table through the Istanbul process,” he added. Fidan emphasized that the country’s efforts, rooted in multilateralism and regional ownership, “will continue to shape the parameters of our shared future.” He reiterated: “Türkiye will continue to uphold dialogue and diplomacy as the cornerstone of our foreign policy.”
The minister stressed Ankara’s commitment to working closely with all partners devoted to fostering a fairer, more balanced, and truly representative international system.
Fidan made these remarks during the opening of a session titled “The Return of High-Risk Diplomacy: Middle Powers and the Emerging Multipolar Order” at the TRT World Forum 2025, themed “Global Reset: From the Old Order to New Realities.” He noted that major powers are losing effectiveness, institutions charged with regional stability are struggling with complex crises, and global governance is shifting toward multipolarity. “Our vision is clear: We stand firmly on the side of cooperation, dialogue, and inclusive multilateralism,” he said.
“If we were to describe the current international system in a single word, it would certainly be uncertainty,” Fidan added, emphasizing that traditional frameworks shaping global politics are undergoing significant changes.
