₹700 Cr Lal Chowkparimpora 4-Lane Flyover Project Approved

Srinagar- The Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday informed the Legislative Assembly that a four-lane flyover from Lal Chowk to Parimpora Junction - spanning 7 kilometers and estimated to cost ₹700 crore - has been approved among 19 major infrastructure projects for the Union Territory.

Responding to an un-starred question by MLA Tariq Hameed Karra, the Minister in-charge of Public Works (R&B) Department said that the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH), in its meeting held on June 19, 2025, approved the Action Plan for 2025–26, which includes 19 national highway projects across J&K.

Among them is the ambitious“4-lane flyover from Lal Chowk to Parimpora Junction on NH-1 in Srinagar City,” aimed at easing traffic congestion and improving connectivity across the summer capital.

Officials said that survey and design work is currently underway, while the preparation of the Detailed Project Report (DPR) and related technical investigations are in progress.

The department informed that topographical surveys, geotechnical investigations, and Automatic Traffic Counter and Classifier (ATCC) studies are being conducted at key intersections along the proposed route.
