Trump says he had MRI scan during his visit to Walter Reed hospital

(MENAFN) President Donald Trump said on Monday that a recent MRI scan at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center was “perfect.” Speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One while en route to a week-long Asia trip, Trump did not specify the reason for the scan.

“I did. I got an MRI. It was perfect,” he said. His physician had previously described him as being in “exceptional health,” noting that the results were among the best seen for someone his age.

Dr. Sean Barbabella, Trump’s presidential physician, said the MRI was part of a “scheduled follow-up evaluation” under the president’s ongoing health maintenance plan, which also included advanced imaging, laboratory testing, and preventive assessments. “The president continues to demonstrate excellent overall health,” Barbabella added.

MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) scans use strong magnetic fields to create detailed images of soft tissues inside the body and can detect a wide range of health issues, according to the US National Institutes of Health.

Earlier this year, Trump was diagnosed with chronic venous insufficiency, a condition in which leg veins fail to return blood efficiently to the heart, causing pooling in the lower limbs. The White House described it as a “benign and common” condition in older adults.

Trump was also recently photographed with patches of makeup on the back of his hand. The White House said the makeup was unrelated to his vein condition and was used to cover bruising from frequent handshakes.
