UNRWA Reports Escalating Violence in Occupied West Bank

(MENAFN) The United Nations agency responsible for Palestinian refugees, UNRWA, reported on Wednesday that Israel’s ongoing destruction and forced displacement efforts continue in the occupied West Bank.

“The future of Gaza and West Bank are one. A drawdown in Gaza should not become an opportunity to tighten the grip of occupation elsewhere,” stated Roland Friedrich, the director of UNRWA Affairs for the occupied West Bank, as quoted on the social media platform X.

A ceasefire took effect in Gaza on October 10, following a phased plan introduced by US President Donald Trump.

Friedrich highlighted a marked increase in settler violence and the expansion of settlements across the West Bank.

He warned that these actions are “pushing vulnerable Palestinian communities from their lands amid increasingly coercive conditions—paving the way for annexation.”

According to Palestinian sources, illegal Israeli settlers have carried out 7,154 attacks against Palestinians and their property in the West Bank since October 2023, resulting in 33 Palestinian fatalities and the displacement of 33 Bedouin communities.

The northern refugee camps in Jenin, Tulkarm, and Nur Shams have been completely evacuated, with residents barred from returning due to the ongoing policies, Friedrich added.

He reaffirmed UNRWA’s willingness to collaborate with all involved parties “to ensure a comprehensive outcome that can form the cornerstone of peace and stability for the entirety of the occupied Palestinian territory.”
