Revealing The Names Of Israeli Soldiers Involved In The Killing Of Palestinian Girl 'Hind Rajab' In Gaza
Natasha Brak, Head of Legal Affairs at the Hind Rajab Foundation speaking to Al Jazeera, said the investigation's findings will help them file a case with the International Criminal Court against those involved in this crime.
No immediate comment was issued by the Israeli side.
The investigation, broadcast by Al Jazeera on Monday, revealed the names of Israeli military personnel involved in the killing of the Palestinian girl Hind Rajab, her family, and the paramedics who rushed to save them in the Tel al-Hawa neighborhood in southwestern Gaza City in January 2024.
The program,“What's Hidden is Greater”, presented by journalist Tamer Al-Mashal, stated that it obtained exclusive footage and data related to the crime that led to the identification of those responsible.
Hind Rajab was a 5-year-old Palestinian girl when the Israeli army killed her along with six of her relatives by shelling a car they had taken refuge in on January 29, 2024, in southwestern Gaza City.
The Israeli army also killed the paramedics who rushed to save her following a distress call she made via the Palestinian Red Crescent Society.
The program stated that those involved are“the commander of the 401 Armored Brigade, Officer Beni Aharon, and the commander of Battalion 52, Officer Daniel Ella.”
In May, the Hind Rajab Foundation announced that it had filed a complaint against Beni Aharon at the International Criminal Court for committing“war crimes” and for his responsibility in the girl's killing.
The Hind Rajab Foundation was established in February 2024, is headquartered in Brussels, and actively pursues legal cases against Israeli officials and military personnel worldwide.
The investigation broadcast by Al Jazeera also reached the details of the tank unit that operated on the ground and directly carried out the killing.
Diab Abu Jahjah, Executive Director of the Hind Rajab Foundation, who was featured in the program, said:“The unit is called the 'Vampire Empire,' and the unit commander who gave the order to open fire and is responsible for the girl's death is Shon Plas.”
The program reported that the investigation obtained“photos and details of the unit's soldiers, including Itay Shukerkov, who holds both Argentine and Israeli citizenship.”
In an interview with Al Jazeera, Natasha Brak, Head of Legal Affairs at the Hind Rajab Foundation, said that the investigation's findings would“assist the organization in filing a case with the International Criminal Court against those involved in the killing of Hind Rajab, her family, and the paramedics.”
No immediate response was received from the Israeli side regarding the information in the investigation.
Israel began a two-year genocidal war in Gaza on October 8, 2023, with U.S. support, which resulted in the deaths of 68,216 Palestinians, injuries to 170,361 others, and the destruction of 90 percent of the sector's infrastructure.
This war ended with a ceasefire agreement that went into effect on October 10, but Tel Aviv violated it 80 times.
The agreement was based on a plan by U.S. President Donald Trump, which included, alongside ending the war, a gradual withdrawal of the Israeli army, mutual prisoner releases, and immediate entry of aid into the sector.
