Asia Padel Cup Enters Main Round After Thrilling Qualifiers

Doha, Qatar: The final day of Phase 2 of the FIP Asia Padel Cup, held at the Khalifa Tennis and Squash International Complex in Doha, determined the lineup of the 16 national teams that will compete in the Final 8 starting today.

Among the men, Kuwait (Group A) secured qualification after defeating Indonesia. Also celebrating were Pakistan (3-0 over Thailand, Group B), Jordan (3-0 against South Korea, Group C), and Lebanon in Group D, thanks to their 2-1 victory over Kazakhstan. These four teams join the United Arab Emirates, Iran, Qatar, and Australia, who had already qualified for the Final 8.

Standing out in Team Australia is the presence of Pat Rafter, former world No. 1 in tennis, who has already taken part in padel events on the FIP Tour and represented his country in the FIP Seniors Padel Championships.

In the third tie of Phase 2 in the women's draw, Thailand (2-1 over Lebanon, Group A), Indonesia (which had already clinched qualification after the first two ties in Group B), the United Arab Emirates, and Saudi Arabia secured their spots. The UAE team took first place in Group C after winning their direct encounter.

Japan, Australia, Philippines and Iran were qualified to the Final 8 by ranking.

Yesterday, the group stage draw for the Final 8 was held.

The tournament will kick off today, preceded by the opening ceremony at 9:30 a.m. local time.

Organized by the International Padel Federation (FIP), the Qatar Tennis Federation (QTF), and Padel Asia, the FIP Asia Padel Cup is ready to enter its decisive phase, with the top two teams from each group advancing to the semifinals.
