Dr Lakshini Gunasekera (BBMed, MD, FRACP) is a consultant neurologist and headache specialist. She is also the Deputy Director of the Multidisciplinary Alfred Psychiatry Research Centre (MAPRc) which is a research institute dedicated to improving women's brain health. Dr Gunasekera is actively involved in clinical research, has published widely in peer-reviewed journals, regularly presents at national and international conferences, is completing a PhD in headache medicine and supervises medical and research students. She has recently won a grant to investigate hormonal therapies for menstrually-related migraine, a well known issue affecting many women worldwide.
