(MENAFN) Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that Kyiv has completed its preparations for an upcoming meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump.

He highlighted that the planned discussions will focus on both defense and financial matters, which he believes could contribute to bringing the ongoing conflict with Russia closer to resolution.

In his evening speech, Zelenskyy stated, “We have already prepared our part of the homework ahead of the (Oct. 17) meeting with President Trump – both the military component and the economic one. Every detail, everything is ready. The agenda of our meeting with the president of the United States is very substantive.”

He expressed appreciation to all those involved in the arrangements, emphasizing that these discussions “can truly bring the war closer to an end.”

He underscored the influential role the U.S. plays on the global stage, adding, “It is the United States that can wield this kind of global influence, and we are doing everything to ensure that others around the world stand on our side in this effort.”

Zelenskyy also mentioned that a Ukrainian delegation, which includes the prime minister, the head of his presidential office, and various high-ranking officials, is already in Washington.

Their goal is to lay the foundation for the bilateral talks and engage with American defense and energy firms.

Additionally, Ukraine is advancing the Prioritized Ukraine Requirements List (PURL) initiative in collaboration with partners across Central, Southern, and Northern Europe.

This joint effort aims to acquire American weaponry collectively, strengthening regional security.

The president also extended his gratitude to the UK for its recent sanctions targeting Russia’s biggest oil producers.

He acknowledged Greece for its continued backing, noting that both energy collaboration and resilience strategies were key topics during his recent conversation with Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis.
