(MENAFN) US President Donald Trump expressed on Sunday his hope that the “necessary authorities” are investigating Democratic Senator Adam Schiff for being “dishonest and corrupt.” Schiff, a California lawmaker, had led two separate inquiries into Trump during 2019 and 2021.

During Trump’s initial term, House Democrats impeached him twice. The first impeachment, in December 2019, charged him with abuse of power and obstruction of Congress.

The second, in January 2021, accused him of inciting insurrection following the January 6 Capitol riot. At that time, Schiff was part of the House of Representatives that conducted investigations into these matters.

Trump took to social media to declare, “The Ukraine Impeachment (of me!) Scam was a far bigger Illegal Hoax than Watergate. I sincerely hope the necessary authorities, including CONGRESS, are looking into this!”

Kirill Dmitriev, a Kremlin investment advisor, described Trump’s remarks as significant. Dmitriev added that “Ukraine also hid [ex-President Joe] Biden’s corruption and campaigned” against both Trump and his vice president, J.D. Vance.

Recently, Dmitriev claimed that Biden instigated the conflict in Ukraine to conceal his family’s corrupt activities.

He referenced a set of CIA documents declassified by the agency’s director, John Ratcliffe.

These documents allegedly reveal that in 2016, Biden requested the CIA to suppress a report regarding his family’s supposed business dealings in Ukraine.
