
Magnitude 4.9 Quake Rocks Western Türkiye
(MENAFN) A 4.9 magnitude earthquake struck the western region of Türkiye’s Kutahya province early Thursday morning, shaking the area at 2:54 a.m. local time (23:54 GMT), according to official sources.
The tremor originated at a shallow depth of 12.1 kilometers (7.52 miles), as reported by Türkiye’s Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD). Initial assessments placed the earthquake’s epicenter within the Simav district of Kutahya province.
Following the earthquake, Kutahya Governor Musa Isin communicated through the US-based social media platform X that no adverse incidents have been reported at this time. Officials remain vigilant, closely monitoring the situation for any possible aftershocks or damage in the region.
