(MENAFN- Brazil-Arab News Agency (ANBA)) São Paulo – Six Arab countries are among the leading destinations of Brazilian beef this year, according to data from beef lobbying group Abrafrigo . The organization reported on Tuesday (7) that the sector reached record export levels both in September and year to date, despite the tariff increase imposed by the United States coming into effect.

According to Abrafrigo, exports in September totaled USD 1.92 billion, a 49% increase in value compared to the same month in 2024. In volume, shipments reached 373.8 thousand metric tons, up 17% over the same period.

Year-to-date export revenues reached USD 12.7 billion, up 35.8% compared to the same period in 2024. In volume, exports totaled 2.3 million tons, an increase of 18.7%. In its statement, the organization said the sector has managed to overcome challenges stemming from higher U.S. tariffs and seize new trade opportunities.

So far this year, the top destination of exports has been China, which imported USD 6 billion between January and September. It is followed by the U.S., with USD 1.7 billion in purchases, then Mexico, Chile, Russia, the Philippines, Italy, Hong Kong, Egypt, and Saudi Arabia, rounding out the top ten destinations.

Egypt imported USD 240.2 million worth of Brazilian beef this year, down 3.8% compared to the same period in 2024 through September. Saudi Arabia, in turn, increased its purchases by 7.7% year on year, reaching USD 219.2 million. Algeria ranked as the 13th largest destination of Brazilian beef and related products, with imports totaling USD 185.3 million-an 18.3% increase.

Sales to the United Arab Emirates, the 14th largest buyer, dropped 72.6%, marking the steepest annual decline among the top 20 importers. Lebanon ranked 17th, with USD 100 million in purchases for the year, up 42.7%. Libya, the 19th largest destination, increased its imports by 45.8%, reaching USD 91.2 million.

Abrafrigo's statement says 130 countries importing Brazilian beef increased their purchases year to date, while 48 reduced them. Abrafrigo's data is calculated based on information from Brazil's Ministry of Development, Industry, Commerce and Services and include fresh and processed meat, edible offal, tallow, and other by-products.
