Galatasaray Triumphs Over Liverpool
(MENAFN) In a captivating UEFA Champions League encounter on Tuesday, Galatasaray clinched a narrow 1-0 win against Liverpool.
The intense battle between the two renowned clubs kept fans on edge throughout the contest.
The decisive moment came early in the game when Galatasaray seized the lead in the 16th minute. Victor Osimhen calmly "converted from the penalty spot" after Baris Alper Yilmaz was "brought down inside the box" just two minutes earlier.
This gave the home side an advantage during the second matchday of the League phase, held at Rams Park.
Although the English team mounted several attacking plays in response, Galatasaray’s defensive line remained resolute. As a result, the first half concluded with the hosts holding on to their slim lead.
The tempo escalated after the break, with both teams generating dangerous chances. The match reached a dramatic climax in the 90th minute when Wilfried Singo was accused of a foul inside the penalty area.
A spot-kick was initially awarded to Liverpool, but following a VAR assessment, the referee reversed the decision, much to the relief of the Turkish side.
Despite Galatasaray pressing for a second goal, Liverpool’s sturdy defense managed to fend off further threats.
With this outcome, Galatasaray secured their inaugural victory in the UEFA Champions League this season, collecting their first three points in the group stage.
This result also marked a strong comeback after their heavy 5-1 loss to Frankfurt on September 18.
