Russia Boosts Spending On TV Propaganda CCD

(MENAFN- UkrinForm) According to Ukrinform, this was reported on Telegram by the Center for Countering Disinformation (CCD) under Ukraine's National Security and Defense Council.

“The largest increase will go to entertainment and secondary federal TV channels - subsidies for them have more than doubled. Budgets for the main Kremlin broadcasters - Channel One, Rossiya 1, NTV, and others - have also grown significantly. In total, from 2026 to 2028, the Kremlin plans to spend nearly 246 billion rubles (USD 2.93 billion) on TV propaganda,” the statement says.

The CCD noted that against the backdrop of a record budget deficit and economic problems caused by the war and sanctions, the Russian authorities are cutting social spending and raising taxes on their citizens. At the same time, the government continues to generously fund propaganda.

For the Kremlin, the media machine is a key tool for maintaining control. Thanks to it, Russian society is willing to tolerate poverty, go to the front, and support the aggressive policies of Russian President Vladimir Putin - policies that are destroying Russia itself, the CCD emphasized.

As reported by Ukrinform, Russia has also significantly increased funding for propaganda projects targeting foreign audiences, as well as for the state program promoting the Russian language.
