Oberheiden Law Group Taking On Jasta Lawsuits For Victims Of International Terrorism
DALLAS, Texas - Sept. 30, 2025 - Oberheiden Law Group is now representing victims and families in civil lawsuits under the Justice Against Sponsors of Terrorism Act (JASTA), a 2016 federal law that allows U.S. nationals to sue foreign states and entities accused of aiding terrorist attacks on American soil.
The firm is offering representation to survivors of the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks and their families, joining ongoing litigation against foreign charities and government-linked organizations. More than 12,000 plaintiffs have filed claims under JASTA, many of them consolidated in the Southern District of New York.
“These families have waited more than two decades for a path to justice,” said Dr. Nick Oberheiden, managing attorney.“We're here to help them pursue answers in court.”
JASTA allows U.S. courts to hear civil claims involving personal injury or death caused by acts of international terrorism involving foreign state support. The law narrowed foreign sovereign immunity, enabling lawsuits previously barred by jurisdictional rules. Plaintiffs must show a direct connection between their injuries and foreign assistance to terrorist actors.
Oberheiden Law Group's team includes former federal prosecutors and attorneys with experience in national security matters. The firm is offering free consultations to potential plaintiffs evaluating whether they qualify to join ongoing cases.
Recent rulings have expanded discovery into the role of Saudi-connected charities and individuals alleged to have supported al-Qaeda prior to the 9/11 attacks. JASTA claims continue to move forward after years of legal challenges and diplomatic resistance.
