Women's ODI World Cup 2025: ICC Chairman Jay Shah Promises Marquee Event As 'Biggest And Best'

The International Cricket Council (ICC) chairman Jay Shah stated that the upcoming ICC Women's Cricket World Cup 2025, which is scheduled to take place in India and Sri Lanka from September 30 to November 2, will promise to be the biggest and best for cricket fans. 

Taking to his official social media handle, Jay Shah wished the teams participating in the tournament "good luck."

Harmanpreet Kaur excited for the home campaign

Earlier, Indian skipper Harmanpreet Kaur stated that nothing gets bigger than playing the marquee tournament at home and expressed hope that the Women in Blue would not disappoint the fans who have been waiting for them to lift a World Cup across both white-ball formats. Harmanpreet was speaking to JioStar ahead of the start of her team's World Cup campaign against Sri Lanka from September 30 onwards at Guwahati.

The two-time finalists from 2005 and 2017 will be aiming for their first-ever 50-over World Cup crown. Speaking to JioHotstar, Harmanpreet pointed out that this is her fifth ODI World Cup, and having it at home is really big, but the team does not want to put that pressure on themselves and just enjoys their game skipper said that ahead of the tournament, the team and fans alike are very positive because of the amount of cricket the team hasplayed over the last one and a half years, and the team feels ready.

Women's ODI World Cup 2025 Schedule

The ICC Women's Cricket World Cup 2025 will be played from 30 September to 2 November across DY Patil Stadium (Navi Mumbai), ACA Stadium (Guwahati), Holkar Stadium (Indore), ACA-VDCA Stadium (Visakhapatnam), and R Premadasa Stadium (Colombo, Sri Lanka).

India plays Sri Lanka in the opening match in Guwahati on 30 September, while Australia starts their defence of the title a day later against New Zealand in Indore. Visakhapatnam, Navi Mumbai, and Colombo are the other cities where the round-robin tournament will be played.
