Speakers At Amman Book Fair Panel Say Israeli Attempts To Alter Jerusalem's Identity Have Failed
(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency)
Amman, Sept. 29 (Petra) – Panelists at a seminar titled "Jerusalem A Struggle of Identity and Nationalism", held Sunday as part of the Amman International Book Fair, said Israeli occupation efforts to "change the city's identity" and rename it had failed completely.
They argued that archaeology, as the ultimate arbiter, disproves the occupation's narrative, stressing that there is no trace of Jewish civilization in Palestine.
They noted that despite its sanctity, Jerusalem was among the most invaded cities in the world, pointing to the massacre of its inhabitants under the Crusader occupation, which lasted 88 years before being liberated by Saladin, who restored its "radiance, sanctity and Arab-Islamic identity."
The speakers also highlighted that the so-called Palestine Exploration Fund, founded in Britain in 1864, sought to falsify historical facts, but researchers never uncovered any evidence of a temple in the city.
Participants included researcher Suleiman Bdour, Palestinian affairs specialist Mahmoud Awad, and researcher Abla Muhtadi. The session was moderated by Riyad Yassin, vice president of the Jordan Writers' Association.
