Telangana Aims To Boost Semiconductor Manufacturing With T-CHIP Initiative

(MENAFN- KNN India) Telangana, Sep 29 (KNN) Telangana is seeking a bigger role in India's semiconductor industry by moving from chip design to actual manufacturing, said Sridhar Babu Duddilla, the state's IT Minister.

Speaking at the T-CHIP (Technology Chip Innovation Program) Semicon Constitution Summit in Hyderabad, Duddilla highlighted the state's growing talent pool in chip design and the need to develop local manufacturing capabilities.

“The semiconductor industry must establish a strong presence here. We have the design talent, and the next step is manufacturing. We hope the central government will support Telangana in this effort,” he said.

Duddilla noted that Telangana has introduced several policies to encourage semiconductor development, including incentives and subsidies tailored to different types of chip production.“Our talent pool gives us an edge that can support chip manufacturing in a meaningful way,” he added.

The minister also acknowledged the role of the Telangana Information Technology Association (TITA), led by Sundeep Makthala, who founded the T-CHIP Summit. He praised TITA's earlier initiatives, such as digital literacy programs, which have created long-lasting positive outcomes in the state.

One of TITA's latest projects, Pitch2Press, aims to connect innovators with investors and the broader ecosystem through media coverage.“It is designed to instill confidence and support for innovators to move forward,” Duddilla explained.

The summit also marked the launch of a publishing journal focused on technology trends, which aims to educate the public on the latest developments in the field.

Overall, the T-CHIP Semicon Constitution Summit seeks to go beyond a traditional conference by creating a foundational framework for semiconductor growth.

It aims to foster collaboration, outline key principles, and support innovation that can eventually lead to local chip manufacturing.

With strong talent, supportive policies, and innovative programs like T-CHIP, Telangana is positioning itself as a key player in India's semiconductor journey.
