(MENAFN) Several US media outlets report that the FBI sacked a group of agents because they were captured kneeling in solidarity with demonstrators at the 2020 BLM protests in Washington.

According to multiple reports from Friday, 15 to 20 employees, some of whom are military veterans, were reportedly sacked after being charged of breaking the bureau's standards.

The incident occurred in June 2020, just days after George Floyd’s death in Minneapolis, Minnesota, where a police officer had pressed his knee on his neck for over 9 minutes. Floyd’s death sparked massive protests nationally under the BLM banner, during which symbolic kneeling became a sign of unity.

Photos taken during a heated confrontation with Washington, DC demonstrators showed FBI agents kneeling in the street, an action that led to allegation of political bias from critics both inside and outside the bureau.
