Türkiye’s Stock Market Opens Lower


(MENAFN) Türkiye’s main stock index began trading on Monday at 11,112.30 points, marking a decline of 0.35%, or 38.89 points, in comparison to the previous session's closing level.

The previous trading day, Friday, saw the BIST 100 index drop by 1.99%, ending the day at 11,151.20 points.

The total trading turnover for the day amounted to 143 billion Turkish liras, which is approximately $3.45 billion.

By 10:00 a.m. local time (0700 GMT), currency exchange figures indicated that the US dollar was valued at 41.5760 Turkish liras. The euro stood at 47.7610 liras, while the British pound was exchanged at 55.9140 liras.

In the commodities market, an ounce of gold was priced at $3,817.30. Meanwhile, Brent crude oil was being sold at $68.80 per barrel.
