Drone Strike Causes Fire in Moscow Region

(MENAFN) Two individuals lost their lives after a drone strike ignited a blaze at a private residence overnight in the Moscow region, according to Governor Andrei Vorobyov's announcement on Monday.

"Unfortunately, a tragedy occurred in Voskresensk: two people died in a fire in a private home," Vorobyov stated on Telegram, offering his sympathies to the families of the victims.

He reported that Russian air defense units successfully intercepted four drones over the areas of Voskresensk and Kolomna.

Despite these efforts, several structures in Voskresensk suffered damage to their windows and facades, and street lighting was also disrupted.

Emergency responders were promptly sent to the site, with Vorobyov emphasizing that temporary accommodation and aid would be made available to those affected by the incident.

In recent months, drone attacks targeting Russian regions close to the capital and border zones have surged.

Moscow alleges that Ukrainian forces are responsible for these strikes, though Ukraine has yet to comment on these accusations.
