In Bajaur's Salarzai tehsil, the life of Shenoorkhan from the remote village of Dandoki tells the story of countless families caught between poverty and government neglect.

Born without the ability to hear or speak, Shenoor Khan understands everything around him, and though his tongue cannot form words, his eyes reflect the pain and helplessness of his existence.

His greatest treasure is his five young daughters, his only source of courage and hope. But their fragile shelter was shattered when recent heavy rains and a cloudburst destroyed their mud house . The walls collapsed, the roof caved in, and the home became uninhabitable.

Today, this disabled father and his daughters live in the ruins of their broken house, often forced to sleep under the open sky when rainwater floods what remains of their shelter.

Speaking through gestures, Shenoorkhan shared that he travels to Karachi for labor work, but due to a severe back injury, doctors have strictly warned him against heavy physical labor.

Despite the pain, poverty pushes him to work daily, as he says:“If I don't work, who will feed my daughters? There is no food in the house and no money for daily needs.”

Village Council Chairman Shehzada, when contacted by TNN, admitted that while they try to assist him, lack of funds prevents any real help.“A few months ago, the Tehsildar and PTI representatives came here, took pictures, but since then, we have not heard from them,” he revealed.

Repeated attempts by TNN to get a response from the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) went unanswered.

This story is not just about one man's ruined home but a reflection of a system where the cries of the poor are left unheard. It raises serious questions about the performance of the government and the institutions responsible for relief.

In a final appeal, Shenoor Khan said with anguish:“Help me rebuild my house. This is not only about me but about the lives and dignity of my five daughters. If my plea is heard today, perhaps their future can be saved. Otherwise, these ruins will also bury their dreams.”
