Israeli Forces Conduct Raid in Syrian Village

(MENAFN) The Israeli military launched a raid in Syria's southern village of Saida on Sunday, according to reports from Syrian state media.

A Syrian news agency, reported that 16 Israeli armored vehicles moved from Tel Abu Ghithar towards Saida, where they conducted raids and searches on civilian homes before pulling back shortly after.

A Syrian channel confirmed that the Israeli troops went door-to-door in several neighborhoods, attempting to force residents to complete surveys. The surveys were reportedly linked to allegations of residents distributing aid. However, the channel stated that villagers refused to cooperate with the Israeli forces and strongly rejected their presence in the area.

The Israeli military had yet to comment on the allegations at the time of writing.

In recent months, Israel has carried out a number of cross-border incursions into Syria's southern regions, including Quneitra. This comes despite mounting international pressure on Israel to cease its violations of Syrian sovereignty.

Since the collapse of the Bashar al-Assad regime in late 2024, Israel has expanded its control over the Golan Heights, capturing the previously demilitarized buffer zone. This action has been criticized as a violation of the 1974 Disengagement Agreement between Israel and Syria.
