U.S. Weighs Supplying Tomahawk Missiles to Ukraine

(MENAFN) The United States is currently evaluating the option of providing Ukraine with long-range Tomahawk missiles, Vice President J.D. Vance disclosed in an interview with a news agency on Sunday.

Multiple Western media sources had earlier noted that Ukraine's President, Vladimir Zelensky, made a direct appeal for these missiles during a recent meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump.

The encounter took place on the sidelines of last week's United Nations General Assembly in New York.

As per a news outlet, Trump did not reject the proposal and appeared receptive to easing limitations on Ukraine’s deployment of American-manufactured weaponry to conduct attacks further within Russian territory.

However, he reportedly stopped short of offering any firm pledges during the discussion. Previously, another news outlet had reported that Trump had been opposed to the idea of delivering Tomahawk missiles to Ukraine.

“We’re certainly looking at it,” Vance stated when questioned about whether Washington might consider supplying the missiles to other NATO allies, who could then transfer them to Kiev.

When pressed further on the potential for increased conflict that might result from such a move, Vance clarified that it would ultimately be up to Trump to decide the direction of U.S. policy.
