Denmark Closes Aalborg Airport For Second Time In Week Due To Drones
North Jutland Police told reporters that more than one drone with lights activated had been spotted near Aalborg Airport. The UAVs remained in the area for about three hours. According to police, the incident resembled the earlier drone activity that disrupted flights at Copenhagen Airport several days ago.
The law enforcement agency stressed there was no threat to passengers or residents. Three flights were diverted to other airports.
Police said they could not identify the type of drones involved, nor confirm whether they were the same models that flew over Copenhagen Airport on Monday. Attempts to shoot them down failed, and no suspects behind the launches have been detained.
"It is too early to say what the goal of the drones is and who is the actor behind," a police official stated.
Later, authorities confirmed drones had also been observed near airports in the Danish cities of Esbjerg, Sønderborg, and Skrydstrup. The latter hosts an air base for F-16 and F-35 fighter jets.
The Danish Armed Forces announced they are assisting local and national police in the investigation, but declined further comment.

On Tuesday, Danish police and the Security and Intelligence Service (PET) described the situation as very serious, telling The Guardian the UAVs were likely operated by an experienced controller.
Oslo Airport in Norway has also faced temporary shutdowns due to drone activity.
