Germany Clinches FIBA EuroBasket Title


(MENAFN) Germany were crowned FIBA EuroBasket champions following an 88-83 triumph against Türkiye on Sunday.

The gripping encounter at Arena Riga featured two unbeaten national teams, with Türkiye’s Alperen Sengun emerging as the leading scorer of the match with 28 points.

The first quarter concluded 24–22 in Germany’s favor, yet Türkiye fought back vigorously, claiming the second period 24–16. Carrying a 46–40 advantage into halftime, the Turkish squad maintained their momentum throughout the half.

Germany, however, staged a comeback in the third quarter, executing a 26–21 run.

Dennis Schroder contributed a double-double with 16 points and 12 assists for Germany, while Isaac Bonga added 20 points, and Franz Wagner recorded 18 points and eight rebounds in the victory.

On the Turkish side, Cedi Osman tallied 23 points, and Shane Larkin contributed 13 points, six rebounds, and nine assists. Adem Bona also added 12 points for Türkiye.

This marks only the second occasion in FIBA EuroBasket history that Germany has ascended to the top of the podium.

Germany’s previous major achievement came in 1993 when they claimed the title, whereas Türkiye’s finest performance was reaching the final in 2001.
