Ukrainian Forces Can Reach Any Point In Crimea Ukrainian Navy Spokesperson

(MENAFN- UkrinForm) Dmytro Pletenchuk, spokesperson for the Ukrainian Navy, announced this on television, Ukrinform reports.

"Countering the enemy in Crimea is mutual and has been ongoing since the start of the full-scale invasion," Pletenchuk said.

He added that the headquarters of the Russian Black Sea Fleet has already been struck, and such attacks are critically important for troop command and control.

"This is a key element of military infrastructure because communication equals control of forces. It is essentially one of the main components of conducting a war. Loss of command - even temporarily - significantly affects mission execution," the spokesperson said.

According to Pletenchuk, Crimea is fully within the range of Ukrainian forces, though the enemy actively defends against strikes.

"Technically, all of Crimea is within range. But the enemy's countermeasures must be considered. They have heavily fortified this territory with air defense systems. Some operations may succeed, some may not. But that doesn't mean we are going to stop," he said.

He stressed that the most recent target was a communications hub of the Russian Black Sea Fleet in Sevastopol, and civilian casualties were avoided.

"This time it was essentially Sevastopol. But we were able to avoid collateral damage. I mean civilians. These are our people, our territory. Yes, they are there expecting us and prepared to endure these difficulties, but we try to avoid them as much as possible - and we are succeeding," Pletenchuk said.

He also mentioned risks posed by mines in the Black Sea, which threaten not only Ukraine but neighboring countries as well.

"The currents in the Black Sea are such that no one will be unaffected. We are cooperating with partners and hope that after the war they will participate in mine-clearing operations in the Black Sea," Pletenchuk added.
