Poland Urges Google to Remove Israeli Ads on Gaza Famine
(MENAFN) Poland has urged Google to take down Israeli advertisements on YouTube that refute the existence of famine in the Gaza Strip, a broadcaster reported late Sunday.
NASK, a Polish organization tasked with monitoring online disinformation, filed a report to Google at the behest of the Foreign Ministry, demanding the removal of these Israeli-backed ads from the platform.
"NASK experts pointed to manipulated or false content in Google ads and videos on YouTube channels, which—citing the platform's community guidelines—should result in the content being withdrawn," the watchdog explained.
Since the beginning of August, Israel’s Foreign Ministry and its embassy in Warsaw have allegedly circulated content online, including eight videos on the embassy’s YouTube channel, dismissing the famine in Gaza.
Despite the report from NASK, Google rejected the request, asserting that the materials complied with its policies and values, a news agency reported, citing the Foreign Ministry.
Since March 2, Israeli authorities have entirely shut all Gaza border crossings, forcing the territory’s 2.4 million residents into famine conditions.
Famine has been officially confirmed in northern Gaza and is expected to spread to Deir al-Balah and Khan Younis in central and southern Gaza by the end of September, according to the Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC).
