Chinese Stocks End Monday with Mixed Results
(MENAFN) Chinese equities finished Monday's session on a mixed note, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index slipping 0.26 percent to 3,860.5 points.
In contrast, the Shenzhen Component Index gained 0.63 percent, closing at 13,005.77 points.
The total turnover across both indices amounted to 2.28 trillion yuan (roughly 320.9 billion U.S. dollars), a decrease from the 2.52 trillion yuan recorded on the prior trading day.
Stocks in the textile machinery and auto manufacturing sectors led the day’s gains, while shares in ceramics and non-ferrous metals experienced significant losses.
The ChiNext Index, which tracks China’s growth-oriented enterprises akin to the Nasdaq, advanced 1.51 percent to finish at 3,066.18 points.
