Germany Defeats Türkiye to Secure FIBA EuroBasket Title

(MENAFN) Germany triumphed over Türkiye 88-83 on Sunday to capture their second-ever FIBA EuroBasket championship, after a dramatic showdown at Arena Riga. Both teams entered the final undefeated, with Türkiye’s Alperen Sengun emerging as the game’s top scorer, putting up 28 points.

The opening quarter was tight, with Germany leading 24–22. However, Türkiye responded in the second period, outscoring Germany 24–16 to hold a 46–40 advantage at halftime.

Despite Türkiye maintaining momentum early in the third, Germany surged back with a 26–21 run to reclaim the lead. Dennis Schroder delivered a stellar performance for Germany, notching a double-double with 16 points and 12 assists. Isaac Bonga chipped in with 20 points, and Franz Wagner added 18 points and grabbed eight rebounds.

For Türkiye, Cedi Osman contributed 23 points, while Shane Larkin posted 13 points, six rebounds, and nine assists. Adem Bona added 12 points for the Turkish squad.

With the win, Germany claims their first EuroBasket title since 1993, while Türkiye, despite a strong run, fell short of repeating their 2001 finalist appearance.

In the third-place game earlier, Greece claimed the bronze medal after edging out Finland 92-89 in another nail-biting contest.
