1963 -- Kuwait, represented by the Ministry of Finance, inked an agreement with Gulf Kuwait Company and BP Kuwait Limited to supply the State with surplus gas at the cost price.
1980 -- The seventh Asian football tournament kicked off in Kuwait with participation of ten teams. The championship proceeded until September 30 and the Kuwaiti team was crowned as champion.
1990 -- Kuwaiti embassies and consulates heeded orders by the Amir, Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, to disburse financial allocations for Kuwaiti families abroad during the flagrant Iraqi occupation of the country.
1996 -- The Petrochemicals Company (EQUATE) signed with a group of local, regional and international banks a long-term loan accord worth USD 1.2 billion and an operating loan accord valued at USD 145 million for constructing a petrochemical complex in Al-Shuaibah.
2003 -- Kuwaiti medical team affiliated with the Hamed Al-Essa Transplant Center succeeded in the first-ever laparoscopic nephrectomy operation on a female patient. This is a type of "keyhole" surgery to remove all or part of a kidney through small incisions, a camera, and specialized instruments.
2004 -- OPEC member states named Kuwaiti Minister of Energy Sheikh Ahmad Fahad Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah as the organization's president.
2005 -- The Kuwaiti shooting team won the skeet competition of the Asian Championship held in Thailand.
2009 -- Kuwait Amir, Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, signed a decree permitting establishment of a shareholding company (Warba Bank) at a capital of KD 100 million.
2010 -- The Kuwaiti Fund for Arab Economic Development (KFAED) loaned the Ivory Coast KD 3.2 million to co-fund the construction of a key road.
2016 -- Oxford University named the oldest chair for the Arabic language after Kuwaiti poet Abdulaziz Al-Babtain.
2019 -- Kuwait National Seismic Network (KNSN), a Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research (KISR) affiliate, registered a 3.1-magnitude quake north of Kabd and south of Al-Jahra areas.
2021 -- The application "Sahel" was inaugurated during the first digital transformation convention.
2022 -- The health center for the Abu Fatira residential area was inaugurated, housing various clinics.
2023 - Kuwait Foreign Ministry handed Iraq's Ambassador a protest note over the wording of a recent ruling by the Iraqi Federal Supreme Court, which rescinded the agreement on maritime navigation at Khor Abdullah.
2024 -- Former Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah passed away at the age of 82. He held several positions in the State, including Minister of Social Affairs and Labor, Minister of Information, and Minister of Interior and Defense. (end)
