Aftermath Of Rail Explosion In Kyiv Region Still Being Addressed - Svyrydenko

(MENAFN- UkrinForm) According to Ukrinform, Prime Minister Yuliia Svyrydenko reported this on Telegram .

“We are closely monitoring the situation on the Boyarka–Vasylkiv railway section in the Kyiv region. During the night of September 14, an explosion in a train car damaged railway infrastructure near Boyarka. An investigation into the cause is ongoing, and law enforcement agencies will provide further details,” the Prime Minister stated.

As of 15:00, the aftermath is still being addressed. The State Emergency Service of Ukraine and Ukrzaliznytsia are working jointly, deploying personnel and equipment to swiftly eliminate the damage and restore train service ahead of the evening rush hour.

“All damaged rolling stock has been fully removed. Explosive ordnance technicians have re-inspected the cleared areas. Preparations are underway to lay new rails to replace those that were damaged,” Svyrydenko added.

She also provided updates on train traffic adjustments. The train present at the time of the detonation was initially delayed by four hours, but the delay has now been reduced to one hour.

Ukrzaliznytsia has coordinated expedited border control procedures with Ukraine's State Border Guard Service and the Polish Border Guard to maintain international connections.

Currently, 28 trains are operating on altered routes. Delays range from 1.5 to 3 hours, with efforts underway to minimize them.

Svyrydenko advised citizens to follow real-time updates from Ukrzaliznytsia.

Additionally, suburban train service to Fastiv has been restricted. Shuttle trains are now operating between Kyiv and Boyarka to the nearest accessible point. The Kyiv Regional Military Administration has arranged extra bus services along these routes.

The Prime Minister expressed gratitude to Ukrzaliznytsia staff for their care toward passengers, and to the State Emergency Service for their prompt and effective response to the emergency.

As previously reported, during the night of September 14, ammunition detonated aboard a military cargo train in the Kyiv region, resulting in damage to railway infrastructure. Due to repair efforts, some trains will operate on detour routes, with delays of 2–3 hours expected.
