Officials from Syria, Türkiye, Jordan Convene in Amman
(MENAFN) Senior representatives from Syria, Türkiye, and Jordan gathered in Amman, the Jordanian capital, on Friday to improve regional collaboration and explore strategies for launching mutual transport initiatives between the nations.
During the discussions, participants explored the advancement of highway and railway links, simplification of border transit, and the deepening of regional commercial cooperation among the three states, as reported by an official Syrian news agency.
The three-way dialogue was joined by top delegates from each country's transport ministries.
Syrian Deputy Transport Minister Muhammad Omar Rahal highlighted the crucial role of the geographic positioning of Syria, Jordan, and Türkiye, describing it as a natural hub connecting "East to West and North to South."
He underlined that this location presents significant prospects for achieving "economic and trade integration," attracting foreign investments, and boosting mutual trade.
He called for advancing road and railway connectivity schemes—particularly the revival of the Hijaz Railway—eliminating barriers to transit, and improving transport infrastructure.
Rahal also noted that the alliance among Türkiye, Syria, and Jordan represents a strategic necessity.
He stated that Syria aims to cooperate on major development efforts, including reopening key border points like the "Nassib-Jaber crossing" and the "Bab al-Hawa crossing," and rehabilitating critical rail corridors such as the historic Hejaz Railway.
